Folke Johansson is a Principal Patent Advisor and European Patent Attorney at Papula-Nevinpat. He is also a Partner in the firm and has been awarded the Finnish honorary title of Patent Counsellor.
Folke joined Papula-Nevinpat in 2010 as the Director of the Patent Department and became Principal Patent Advisor in February 2026. He is responsible for demanding questions in relation to IPR strategy and managing patent portfolios as well as advising clients and corporate management in patent matters. He supports our patent teams and mentors them in various patent matters. Folke frequently serves as an expert in patent litigations and has extensive experience with oral hearings before the European Patent Office (EPO), including sessions with the Examining Division, the Opposition Division, and the Boards of Appeal.
Folke began his career in intellectual property in 1991 when he was hired as a patent agent at a Finnish patent agency. In 1995, he transitioned to the telecommunications industry where he held various positions and was part of the IP department management group. His extensive experience in patents includes identifying and handling inventions, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, developing patent strategies, managing licensing and litigation processes, buying and selling of patents, and managing large patent portfolios.
Folke frequently travels to lecture and speak at conferences about the EP, PCT, and US patent systems, as well as patent management and strategies.
